ANDY LAUGHTER--LANDRUM--Andy Laughter, age 72, husband of Bertha Splawn Laughter of Rt. 2, died unexpectedly, Thursday afternoon. Native of Polk County, NC, son of the late Velve and Laura Madison Laughter; retired from Tryon Builder's Supply Co. Also surviving: daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Finch, of Landrum; sons, Jesse, John, and Bobby D. Laughter of Landrum; brothers, Eddie and Buddy Laughter of Inman, Roy Laughter of Campobello. Petty Funeral Home.

MRS. ANDY LAUGHTER--LANDRUM--Bertha S. Laughter, age 74, of Oak Leaf Drive, widow of Andy Laughter, died Tuesday morning in St. Luke's Hospital. Native of Polk County, daughter of the late Ransom and Ellen Mitchell Splawn; member of Ingleside Baptist Church. Surviving: daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Finch, of Landrum; sons, Jesse, John T., and Bobby D. Laughter of Landrum; sister, Mrs. Mary Edwards of Mill Spring; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services 2 Thursday at Ingleside Baptist Church by the Rev's Joe Holbert, Hollis Lovelace, and Lawrence Jackson; burial in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.Pallbearers: Gary, Ricky, Phillip, Jimmy, Randy, and Dean Laughter, Bill Culbreth, Danny Peeler. Family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Petty Funeral Home. Body in church at 1 Thursday.

Lawter, age 82, of the Cooley Springs community on Chesnee Route 2, died 6:30pm Sunday, Mary Black Hospital, after along illness. He was a retired merchant, and member of the Masons. Surviving: wife, Mrs. Louie E. Barnette Lawter; son Dean Lawter of Campobello; sister, Mrs. Nannie Bush, of Chesnee, Route 1; brother, Foster Lawter, of Chesnee, Route 1; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
